FULL MOON IN 16 DEGREES LEO

We are moving towards a big, bold full moon in the fire sign of Leo. We have been in the waxing phase of the moon over the last two weeks and so now the energy builds up slowly and as with all the moon phases, it happens softly and subtly. As with all Full Moons it is a time of culmination, illumination and then of letting go as we then clean the slate and prepare for the new cycle to being again.

Leo is ruled by the sun so here we have the full force of this powerful luminary shining in a certain part of our birth chart and therefore, our lives, helping us to release what is no longer serving us but has also left us with new insights through this process. There is also a T-Square operating at this time with the Sun in Aquarius, the Moon in Leo and Uranus in Taurus, so there will be some strong Uranian energy (ruler of Aquarius) so it will have that tension around areas that need to change in some way. This really may feel challenging and uncomfortable yet it will be for our highest good as the great awakener – Uranus always pushes us from behind to break free of what is holding us back, even if it means upsetting the ‘status quo’ as this is the energy that demands action, and under the gaze of a powerful full moon and particularly in Leo, which is about our strength, courage and growth, we will really feel the urge to jump! Most of us will know what or where this is in our lives as it will have been a theme for some time and the full moon illuminates and releases.

We also see Pluto finally changing signs from Capricorn (ruling authority, governments, restrictions, boundaries, large corporations etc) into Aquarius (community groups, humanity, revolutions, independence) on 23/3. It has been in Capricorn since early 2008, and we all remember that year for the GFC. This is the nature of Capricorn to stir up the financial markets, the power structures and authoritarian arenas as that is his domain. While Pluto flirts with Aquarius in 2023, it won’t be consistently in the sign until late 2024. In all, Pluto will spend between 19 and 20 years in the sign. While Pluto is in Aquarius, we take social structures and politics especially seriously, and we seek major reform in these areas.

Astrologically, Aquarius has to do with the subject of change. If Capricorn was about fixed structures, laws and rules, Aquarius is about breaking rules, balancing differences, justice and freedom. If we look at the consequences of the last transit of Pluto through Aquarius (1777/78 to 1798), for example, it brought an end to the estate-based society, a clear separation of church and state, human and civil rights were formulated and freedom of trade was introduced. For the rulers, this must have been quite an uncomfortable time. We must not make the mistake of singling out individual historical events and viewing them as the sole manifestation of a particular astrological constellation. History and humanity itself are much more complex. With Pluto’s entry into Aquarius, total chaos will not immediately erupt, nor will eternal world peace and pure bliss. Pluto’s entry into Aquarius will bring us new ideas, new themes, and new focuses. We will become more aware of inequality and injustice. Our focus will be on independence and freedom, emancipation, renewal, decentralisation and networking.

We also see Saturn (ruler of Capricorn, – structure boundaries, restrictions, rules & law) moving out of Aquarius and into Pisces on 8/3 until May 2025.This will bring another shift of energy and a reality check. When Saturn moved into Aquarius in March 2020, the whole world was turned on its head, with the global pandemic. The restrictions and rules about just about everything were imposed upon us, it was very immediate and widespread. The world was in lockdown. We experienced anti-governmental uprisings, growing economic crisis, and all matters of political instability. Also, we saw a lot of change and progress with regards to gender identity, and non-binary and transgender awareness. Such is the power of Saturn and in Aquarius which rules humanity.

Interestingly, Saturn is the co-ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius. Although we consider Capricorn to be the more picture-perfect representation of Saturnian temperament, Aquarius is also about structure. However, Aquarian social structure gathers around pure ideals, whereas Capricornian social structure is a more of a top-down construction. Saturn may feel a little lost in Pisces however, as he usually likes to build in a slow, methodical and steady way. Pisces’ Neptunian immateriality is basically in opposition to Saturn’s earthy desire to build. Saturn is related to Kronos, the Greek god of time, while minutes are elastic and subjective in Neptune’s realm. Neptune dreams and turns inward; Saturn sees itself in the context of the society and focuses outward. On one hand, we may see the materialisation of our dreams. Saturn passing through Pisces can bring grounding in spiritual realms and practical applications of magical frameworks. We may experience a best-of-both worlds scenario.

On the other hand, we may experience the dissolution of long upheld-structures that we take for granted. Impending financial collapse comes to mind. Also, we may face the desire for escapism, or illusion and deception in social structures and government.Collective ambitions become less focused on the material and more focused on the spiritual. So it will be really interesting to see how this all plays out in the collective and also in our personal lives. These are juicy times we’re living in. There has to be a breaking down of certain structures before we see the reforms or changes, whatever they may be. The interesting conversation we should be having is around building deep and meaningful pathways. We are being prompted to be honest with ourselves. The T-Square will help us to examine where it is we need to show up. Where have we cut ourselves off from our boldness or true essence?

Decide we really already know where and how we need to show up, whether it be to have a peaceful day; not needing to be on centre stage or screaming from the rooftops! This Full Moon ties in with us healing our inner child, so play and enjoy the simple things. Leo rules the heart. So it’s good to remember our heart generates the largest electromagnetic field in the body. It is about 60 times greater in amplitude compared to the brain. Tune into your heart, take time to draw deep slow breaths and activate that ‘relaxation response’ which can calm our nervous system and have untold health benefits.

Leo, speaks of strength, generosity of spirit and is relating to our life force. We are powerful beings and so let this beautiful full moon remind you of this. The healing aspect between Chiron (the wounded healer) and the Sun and Moon is harmonious so that will help us gain more confidence and courage with these new insights. Working on our own wounds or pain inevitable provides the potential for us to commence the new lunar phase with more insight, strength and wisdom. Shake off your manes, and put yourselves in the centre, do something you love to make you feel special and nurtured. Own who you are regardless of where you’re at, and you will be radiating that love for yourself out to others. Come back to what is truly meaningful to you and connect with your heart centre.

Feel your lightness and may your inner light shine!   🙏🌞 🌝 🌟
