Astrology has been a great source of inspiration to me for well over 25 years and I feel that today it shares its place among many other modalities in the ‘self-help’ arena. I have studied formally and through my own obsessive interest in this fascinating field as it has always been a passion of mine. I hold a Diploma of Contemporary Astrology and I have also studied with some of the best Astrology professionals we have in this country. I have also been involved in the healing industry for as many years starting out as a trained nurse working with children and young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, aged care, medical & surgical nursing and then eventually moving into the natural therapy industry. I found it offered me a more individualistic and gentle approach when trying to target people’s specific health needs, which appealed to me very much. I have always steered towards a spiritual approach with my work, thus getting down to the deeper issues with people so as to empower them to help themselves in their own day to day lives and enable them to ignite their own healing process.
Astrology really allows me to get a clear picture of the person I am helping as it is like a ‘blueprint’ or a ‘snapshot’ of their personality traits and potentials taken at their time of birth which continues to unravel as their lives progress. We are much more than our Sun Signs.
So what I aim to do when constructing a chart or horoscope for people is to guide them to a better place to work with their energies and understand that the cycles are not permanent and thus bringing some resolve and hope for them. I incorporate my love of natural healing into the process as well. My studies also have included Reflexology (practitioner level) and a blend of Meditation Teaching and energetic healing using the Australian Bush Flower Essences. Reiki and some Kinesiology tools for affirming what remedy fits best and some meridian balancing to help the body to restore some balance to achieve balance. I also have a strong interest in nutrition and try to help people work with their body in a more holistic and wholesome way.
Astrology has a place here as Medical Astrology is in itself an art and was once used by many as the alchemists of ancient times knew and understood that we were a part of the macrocosm of the universe and that to work with the rhythm of the universe via our birth charts or natal horoscopes, meant we could achieve a better state of health in mind, body and spirit. The priest / healer – Hippocrates once wrote “A physician without the knowledge of astrology had better call himself a fool rather that a physician.” He believed that to achieve total healing of a patient, mind body and spirit must be treated as a whole. It was only until recently that all doctors were obliged to take the Hippocratic Oath. (circa 420BC).
With a combination of astrological counselling and intuitive body work using Reflexology, Reiki and other vibrational methods such as the Australian Bush Flower Essences, and sometimes intuitive card readings, I empower my clients to tackle their challenges, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Rather than swim against the tide, we can glide instead of struggle. This is an ancient and insightful and mystical science and art that is available to us all.
